Zambia

Zambia, waterfalls and safaris

Zambia is a beautiful, wild and unspoiled country thanks to a low human presence and the presence of numerous national parks and reserves that protect about 30% of the entire national territory.

Zambia is also home to the world-famous Victoria Falls, one of the most jaw-dropping natural spectacles in the world.

The Victoria Falls are beautiful and majestic and are one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites; the waterfalls on the mighty Zambezi River are located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, they are almost 2 km wide and in the local language they are called Mosi-Oa-Tunya that is the smoke that thunders due to the roar of the waters and the fog formed by the particles of water.

The water plunges over the cliff and falls into a deep gorge over 100 meters below, twice the height of Niagara Falls.

The beauty of Victoria Falls is very well described by the Scottish explorer Dr. Livingstone who describes them as follows:

such beautiful scenes must have been observed by the angels during their flight

Dr. Livingstone

In addition to the waterfalls, Zambia is home to an incredible population of animals and birds which makes it a top destination for photo safaris and bird watching.

The Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest national park in Zambia and is famous for its predators, in particular the leopard which has a very high concentration in this park.

The Kafue National Park is characterized by a remarkable diversity of landscapes and biomes; there are grasslands, forests and floodplains.

The alluvial plain of Busanga in particular is a very important place for the reproduction of numerous species of water birds and is also the area where you can observe two species of antelope that are difficult to observe elsewhere: the Puku antelope and the red lechwe.

South Luangwa National Park owes its name to the Luangwa River which is the main river system of the park and one of the most pristine on the African continent.

South Luangwa National Park is where walking safaris were first introduced, a unique way to observe the park’s nature and animals.

The park is also a paradise for birdwatchers, more than 400 species of the 732 bird species of the whole of Zambia have been recorded in the park.
