Malawi, the warm heart of Africa

Malawi is a small landlocked African country but as many as a fifth of its territory is made up of water.

In fact, the great Lake Malawi occupies an important portion of the country’s territory and is also a very important economic resource.

Lake Malawi is the richest lake in biodiversity in the world, it is estimated that it is populated by over 1000 species of fish including 700 species of cichlids, almost completely endemic, and famous for their bright colors that make them the favorite fish for populate aquariums all over the planet.

Lake Malawi is the third largest and second deepest lake in Africa, its landscapes are splendid and its crystal clear waters, bordered by soft beaches, are the ideal destination for snorkeling.

Due to its biodiversity, the Lake Malawi National Park has been classified as a Unesco World Heritage site.

Livingstone described it as a Lake of Stars, referring to the thousands of fishing boats that sail on its surface at night and the lanterns on their prows visible from the shore.

Malawi offers lovely landscapes with rolling hills that are home to tea plantations.

The Nyika plateau is part of the largest national park in Malawi which boasts a splendid Afro-mountain plateau with numerous animal species including zebra, roan antelope, eland and bushpig.

Nyika National Park is also home to 400 species of birds and over 200 species of orchids and can be visited by mountain bike.
